The future can make us apprehensive. Nothing is certain. The disciples were apprehensive about what the future held for them and for their Lord. Through his transfiguration Jesus gives the disciples and us a lesson that we’ll never forget—a lesson that teaches us to find certainty in our Savior.
This is a 17-session introductory course ranging from creation to the end of the Old Testament, with emphasis on the promises of God, faith in those promises, and their ultimate fulfillment in the Messiah, Jesus Christ. It will be taught at Chapel by Pastor Doug Tomhave of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Verona, WI. Cost is $8 (funding available). The Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) has released $50,000 in grants to help victims of the earthquake in Haiti. If you’d like to contribute, you can give online or make a check payable to WELS Committee on Relief (designate Haiti earthquake) and mail it to 2929 N Mayfair Road, Milwaukee WI, 53222.

Online registration has begun for spring semester English as a Second Language (ESL) classes! Each semester we hold weekly ESL Classes at the Eagle Heights Community Center. Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced levels are available. All classes are offered free of charge. “Overcoming Lies We Believe” is the theme of this year’s get-away led by Pastor Trapp at Bethel Horizons Retreat Center (Feb 12-14, 2010). The cost—including food and lodging—is $60 for students for two nights, $40 for one night; $75 for non-students for two nights, $55 for one night. But please don’t decide not to go because of cost.
